This is a very informative, but difficult read. I recommend it, but only if you have a background in higher mathematics, physics and logic, or have a very great interest in these fields. The author gives an extensive review of Alan Turning's early life, his education, his genius, his accomplishments, his friends, and his homosexuality. The difficulty is that the author continuously goes into extensive discussions of math and logic theorems and proofs. Turning questions, proves or uses these theorems and earlier published studies in his work to develop the mechanical means to defeat and read the German military secure communications codes during WWII; and to build an unbreakable communications systems for Britain. You may find that you have to read and re-read sections several times in order to understand or accept the logic being explained. The book does give the reader a very good view into the British government's organization and efforts to counteract the German military during the war.
Enigma war seiner Zeit ein wirklich kniffeliger Code (selbst heute noch ist dafür ein Wissen in der höheren Mathematik nötig). Ist schon wahnsinn, wie der geknackt wurde! Erschreckend ist es allerdings, wie einer, der wahrscheinlich das Wichtigste oder zumindest eines der Wichtigsten Dinge zur Kriegsentscheidung geleistet hat, dann behandelt wurde, nur weil er anders war!
Schnelle Liferung, Sehr Guter Zustand. Ich bin froh die gut gebundene Ausgabe gekauft zu haben. Etwas MINT Fachwissen erforderlich. Man merkt das in England vorsichtig ausgedrückt Bücher für die "eigene Klasse" geschrieben werden -man merkt dies auch an den anderen Büchern die ich geread lese-, was die Motivation sichtlich erhöht. England hat Touring viel zu verdanken, so daß sein Ende als Aufruf zu Toleranz anderen -sich engagierenden Menschen- gegenüber zu verstehen ist
Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Buch und vor allem eine sehr interessante Biographie. Manchmal sehr mathematisch, wovon ich leider eher weniger verstehe, aber auch nach groben Überfliegen dieser Teile, bleibt noch genug zu lesen übrig. Die Einstellung zum Thema Homosexualität, die Persönlichkeit von Alan Turing, die Maschine, der zweite Weltkrieg, man hat das Gefühl, das Buch dreht sich einfach um alles.
This book is very good written and contains details of Alan Turing's life, which make the reader feel the atmosphere of the difficult times. The only negative note I could tell about this book is that the font is very small and it makes it unpleasant to read

Auch für mathematisch wenig Begabte ein spannendes Buch, auch wenn die teils vielen technischen Details der von Turing entwickelten technischen Geräte für Laien vielleicht nicht immer bis ins Letzte nachvollziehbar sind. Es gelingt diesem Buch immer wieder, den Menschen Alan Turing hinter den Maschinen zu zeigen und ihn in der großen Palette seiner Persönlichkeit eindrucksvoll zu porträtieren. Das Buch ist eine würdige Biographie für eines der größten Genies des 20. Jahrhunderts..
